Usual Day At Unusual School

We talked about proof by contradiction in the last couple of classes. Today we proved that √2 is irrational using proof by contradiction (which is also called, in latin, reductio ad absurdum). You can also review direct proof here (use the pop-up menu to review indirect proof and other topics as well).

Tonight's homework is the play below. Make a list of all the Braves and Brights. We'll discuss it in class tomorrow. ;-)

Circle Geometry Test Practice

As promised, here are 8 problems to help you get ready for the test.

Remember, as I said in class, if you start working on one of these questions and get the horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach ... STOP. Go on to the next problem and try it out. If that happens with all 8 problems take a break and come back to them later ... lather. Rinse. Repeat. ;-)

We'll go over all the questions in class tomorrow.

Analytic Geometry Review and Reminders ...

Your first project was handed out in class today. It is due next Friday, December 1. You can use any presentation format you like. Mr. Harbeck and I have started collecting a list of free online tools you can use any time you have a project to do. You can find it here.

Don't forget your first flickr assignments are due on Friday. (Take a picture of an "interesting" (to you) number using your cell phone or digital camera. Upload it to flickr. Include a description of why you chose that number and tag it pc30sf06.)

Below is the review sheet we talked about in class today ... try to finish it for class tomorrow. The test is next Monday.

Algebra Review Questions for Test Tomorrow

These two pages are a copy of an old test I used to give for this unit. Answers are not provided. Discuss your answers with your classmates in the comments to this post, together you'll figure it out, I know you will. ;-)

Remember ... learning is a conversation ... if you're not talking to somebody about it, you're not learning it ... let the conversation begin! ;-)
